About UBOS

The Uganda Bureau of Statistics is a semi-autonomous government agency mandated to collect, analyze, and disseminate national statistical data. As the principal statistics-producing body in the country, UBOS plays a critical role in informing government policy and development planning.


Job Description

Enumerators will be tasked with collecting data related to aquaculture across various Enumeration Areas in Uganda. This includes conducting interviews, entering responses into digital tools, and submitting daily reports. Accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism are key!


Your Work as an Enumerator (Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Attend all training sessions and pass required assessments

  • Locate fish farms in designated areas

  • Conduct face-to-face interviews using mobile data collection tools

  • Identify and correct inconsistencies in data during interviews

  • Ensure all collected data is kept confidential

  • Maintain and care for all assigned survey materials

  • Sync collected data after each interview

  • Submit daily progress reports

  • Prepare a final report at the end of the assignment

  • Adhere to ethical standards and instructions from field supervisors

  • Perform any additional duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE)

  • Requirement: Must have scored at least a credit in Mathematics at UCE


Added Advantage

  • Training in fisheries or aquaculture

  • Previous experience in data collection or censuses

  • Swimming skills are a plus


Required Skills & Attributes

  • Possess a National Identification Number (NIN)

  • Have a Tax Identification Number (TIN) and be registered with NSSF

  • Must own a smartphone with Mobile Money registered in their name

  • Good interpersonal, communication, and numeracy skills

  • Physically fit and able to work independently

  • Strong sense of integrity and professionalism
