On the other hand, a CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor) specializes in taxation and provides tax planning and advisory services to individuals, businesses, and organizations. CTAs must also meet specific education and experience requirements to earn the designation, but they are not licensed by the state. In summary, while both designations require specialized knowledge and skills, CPAs focus on a broader range of accounting and financial services, while CTAs specialize in taxation.
