About the Organization:
The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) is a semi-autonomous Government Agency operating in partnership with the private sector and Government of Uganda to drive National economic growth and development. The Authority was setup by an Act of Parliament (Investment Code 1991, which was later revised to the Edition 2000 Lavs of Uganda) 2019 with the aim of promoting and facilitating private sector investment in Uganda.
Job Description
UIA seeks to recruit highly competent, qualified and motivated individuals to fill the following vacant position.

Duties and Responsibilities
Budgeting & Financial Planning:
Develop and manage budgets for investment projects, ensuring that all expenditure is in line with financial goals and organizational objectives.
Work closely with the finance team to forecast future investment needs and project costs.
Prepare annual and quarterly budgets, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall investment strategy.
Expenditure Management:
Monitor and control all expenses related to investments, ensuring that costs do not exceed budget allocations.
Review and approve invoices, contracts, and payments related to investment activities.
Ensure that all expenditures are properly documented, justified, and compliant with company policies.
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
Conduct financial analysis of investment portfolios to assess performance and profitability.
Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management or investors, detailing actual vs. budgeted expenditure, financial performance, and investment returns.
Analyze cost structures and identify areas where cost savings or efficiencies can be achieved.
Provide insights into financial trends, risks, and opportunities for the investment portfolio.
Cost Control & Optimization:
Implement cost control measures to ensure that investment expenditures remain within budget and optimize resource allocation.
Monitor operational expenses, procurement costs, and project spending to identify any discrepancies or overspending.
Recommend strategies to reduce costs and improve the financial efficiency of investment projects.
Compliance & Financial Auditing:
Ensure that all financial transactions related to investments comply with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as internal policies.
Support external and internal audits by providing accurate financial documentation and reports related to investment expenditures.
Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant tax laws, accounting standards, and financial regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is typically required.
A master’s degree or professional qualification in accounting (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA) is often preferred for senior positions.
Experience:
5–10 years of experience in accounting, finance, or investment management, with a focus on expenditure management and financial reporting.
Previous experience working in the investment sector, particularly in managing project budgets, is an advantage.
Experience in preparing financial reports, monitoring budgets, and working with auditors.
Skills:
Financial Analysis: Strong ability to analyze financial data, budgets, and expenditures to provide accurate insights.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Expertise in developing and managing budgets, as well as forecasting future costs and returns.
Cost Control & Efficiency: Strong understanding of cost control measures and strategies to improve financial efficiency.
Financial Reporting: Experience in preparing financial reports and presenting them to senior management or investors.
Compliance & Auditing: Familiarity with financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards, including experience with financial audits.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify financial issues, develop solutions, and make recommendations to improve financial performance.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Attention to Detail: Accuracy in managing financial transactions, budgets, and reports.
